DR. GENE SHARP

Yesterday evening, reviewing my twitter account I learned about the death of Dr. Gene Sharp, the highest eminence on the topic of Nonviolence around the world.

Dr. Gene Sharp died on January 28, 2018 at his residence in East Boston, United States of America.

Dr. Sharp was a man who dedicated his life to help us out of the shadows Violence, Death and War, through the study and dissemination of Nonviolence as a political method of Struggle.

Dr. Sharp was a scholar of the struggles of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King; He advised many struggles in many countries, which allowed the transition from Dictatorship to Democracy in those countries plagued by dictators.

In Venezuela Dr. Gene Sharp was an immense light that allowed us to get away from the armed classic social conflict, and he led us with his knowledge, expressed in his extensive bibliography. It has not been Sharp's fault in any way that in Venezuela we have not been able to take the step from Dictatorship to Democracy. Sharp says so in his bibliography, and many scholars of the subject also; In order to develop a struggle against tyranny that has the possibility of success, it is vital to maintain three elements in force: UNITY, PLANNING and NON-VIOLENT DISCIPLINE.

Our leadership, knowing how to fill your pockets with the fruit of your word has led us down a dead end road, and at a terrible human cost.

Surely, if Dr. Gene Sharp could have talked with one of our leaders, his vision of the problem and the necessary solution could have illuminated our path and shortened our suffering.

As a Nonviolent Activist I deeply regret the death of Dr. Gene Sharp, whom I waited for a long time to meet at some point.

Today Gene rests pleased to have managed to remove humanity from the phantom of violence, and to have planted its seed in the consciences of millions of citizens of the world, which today we say "Nonviolent Activists".
